Mazda MX-5 Superlight version Show car to premiere at the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show

Mazda MX-5 Superlight

A superlight show car capturing the pure essence of the world’s most popular roadster, the Mazda MX-5, will see its world premiere at the 63rd Frankfurt Motor Show, which will be held from 15 through 27 September 2009.

After 20 years of global success, Mazda MX-5 is the best-selling two-seat sports car in the world. At Frankfurt, Mazda will present a new take on its affordable roadster in an all-new show car, the Mazda MX-5 Superlight version, designed at Mazda’s studio in Oberursel, Germany. A pure show car, it takes the lightweight technology that Mazda is famous for to a new level, which improves driving performance, handling, fuel economy and CO2 emissions. This is combined with a radical exterior design requiring no windshield, and sporty chassis settings for pure roadster driving fun.

The new Mazda MX-5 Superlight version will be unveiled at Mazda’s press conference in Hall 3.1, Stand A7, on 15 September, at 12:45 local time.

LOW-EMISSION MAZDA CARS HELP CUT BUSINESS COSTS

LOW-EMISSION MAZDA

Mazda’s broad range of low-emission cars available at H.G.Bryer and Sons can help local businesses in Carmarthen and Haverfordwest achieve two of their current targets – projecting an environmentally-friendly image and cutting vehicle operating costs.

Recent government changes to business car capital allowances mean that it is cheaper for businesses to run company cars that emit 160g/km of CO2 or less. As a result, many companies are ‘capping’ fleet choice lists at that level.

After claiming top place for the Automotive Sector, Mazda was described as ‘best at meeting customers’ needs’ and was awarded a score of 86 – 10 points above the sector average and three points clear of its nearest competitor – to comfortably out-perform all other prestigious and popular brands.

New Mazda6 prices to start from just £14,891 on-the-road

  • Expanded 2009 new Mazda6 line-up on sale from January
  • Eleven models priced from £15,869 feature all-new 2.2-litre diesel engine
  • Five equipment levels – S, TS, TS2, Sport and Sports Luxury
  • Enhanced safety with new lane-change ‘Rear Vehicle Monitoring System’
Mazda6When the expanded 26-strong line-up of 2009 new Mazda6 models goes on sale in January, prices will start at just £14,891 (OTR). Mazda is taking the opportunity presented by the arrival of its all-new MZR-CD 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine, with a choice of three power outputs, to also introduce some specification upgrades and one additional diesel model – offering both the low power (125ps) and mid power (163ps) engines in the TS hatchback.
Among the specification upgrades is a new standard equipment feature on 15 models from the £17,563 TS2 upwards – Mazda’s lane-change ‘Rear Vehicle Monitoring System’.  This innovation will be a significant boost to safer driving. Fully automatic, the new active safety feature employs two rear-facing radar units that detect and warn the driver of an approaching vehicle before he/she has a chance to move across into a busy lane by mistake.

“With retail and user-chooser company car drivers thinking harder and more carefully about their purchase decisions in 2009 and increasingly putting ‘badge snobbery’ aside, I’m certain that with new Mazda6 we have ‘the right car at the right time’ to grow our D-segment share next year,” enthuses Mark Cameron, Mazda UK Sales Director.
